Participate in a Running Shoe Drive

Team captains, your runners can help others by collecting used running shoes. We can help you get organized. Simply pick one of our preselected beneficiaries from the list and links below. Then, fill out the form to let us know the name and mailing address for your organization, select the group you want to get the shoes you and your team collect, and when you plan to run your shoe drive. We will send you an official Runners4Others.org running shoe collection receptacle and a prepaid mailing label. Collect the shoes, seal up the receptacle, affix the label and send it to the organization of your choosing. It’s that simple. Nothing will help a runner in need more than a good pair of gently used running shoes.

List of Beneficiaries

  • GreenSneakers is a non- profit organization that collects gently used running shoes and makes them available as affordable footwear in developing countries.

  • Nike's Reuse-a-Shoe program accepts worn-out running shoes and recycles them into “Nike Grind.” Nike Grind is used in sports surfaces like basketball courts, tennis courts, athletic fields, running tracks and playgrounds for kids around the world. Nike Grind is also used in new products like the zipper pull of a jacket. Nike has recycled approximately 28 million pairs of shoes.

  • One World Running is an international program promoting an awareness of health, fitness and nutrition by providing running shoes to those in need in the United States and around the world.

  • Share Your Sole distributes gently-used running shoes to needy and impoverished people all over the world.

  • Shoe4Africa is a nonprofit organization that distributes gently used running shoes to those in need and also initiates HIV/AIDS awareness programs. They only accept running shoes and soccer cleats. They are given to individuals who earn the shoes by running a footrace. They must pay the import duty on the shoes when they receive them, so they only want shoes that can still be used in competition by the recipients.

  • Shoe Bank provides shoes for 25,000 people every year -- primarily children, both in the United States and abroad. They accept used running shoes and distribute them to homeless shelters, shelters for battered women and children, refugee services and hospitals. They also work with international relief organizations to send the running shoes wherever they are most needed.

  • Soles4Souls is a charitable organization that collects and distributes "gently used" running shoes to those in need. The Soles4Souls team coordinated relief efforts for the Asian tsunami and Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, netting over 1 million pairs of shoes donated for these disasters. Since they started in 2006 they have distributed approximately 26 million pairs of shoes in 127 countries and all 50 states.
